As winter progresses, elite runners begin to sharpen their calendar for the coming season. Among the first to say yes to Transvulcania is Jessed Hernández, who recently finished first at Spain’s Vertical Kilometer Championship (FEDME). In 2014 he was also a double runner-up at the Skyrunner National Series, in the categories of Vertical Kilometer and Ultramarathon.
On top of that, Hernández has also won the epic Mount Olympus mountain race… twice! And last but certainly not least he was also the first winner of Cavalls del Vent (now called Ultra Pirineu). He comes to La Palma with a double challenge: to tackle the Vertical Kilometer on the 7th of May and our 73.3 km Ultramarathon two days later. Welcome!
