The Vertical Kilometer Transvulcania Binter will have the presence of the two world champions of this modality at the starting line. The Organization of the race have confirmed the participation of the French athlete Christel Dewalle, who joins the previously announced Norwegian runner Stian Angermund-Vik.

The Sports Counsellor of the La Palma Island Council, Ascensión Rodríguez, remembered that Dewalle and Angermund-Vik are not the only numbers to follow in this discipline, considering that they will have to fight for the win with other athletes like Luis Alberto Hernando, who is one of the best mountain runners of Spain, or Turi Yoshizumi, champion of the Skyrunning Asian Circuit.

The 33-year old Christel will take part in the La Palma competition after obtaining the triumph in the Vertical Kilometer of the Skyrunner World Series. Additionally, he has won the most prestigious races of this distance in the world.

Her conquest of the last World Championship was marked by a storm that made it even harder to complete the 2.8 kilometres of the route, especially with a cumulative elevation gain of 1.033 metres. Dewalle finished in first position and established a new world record with a time of 39 minutes and 25 seconds.

Furthermore, she obtained the first place in other longer races such as Ecotrail Praz De Lys.Sommand 2015, Trail Du Sancy Mont-Dore 2015, Ice Trail Tarentaise 2014 or Trail Drome Lafuma 2014.

It is important to remember that Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2017¸ official race of the Migu Run Skyrunner® World Series 2017, will have 3.600 athletes distributed in its four modalities (Vertical Kilometer, Ultra Marathon, Marathon and Half Marathon).
