The Leonese ultra runner returns after several years of absence with the aim of climbing to the top of the podium
Running stars keep getting confirmed. The twelfth edition of Transvulcania is being considered as one of the most competitive. Although the Organization confirmed the presence of its now teammates Tom Evans, The Mityaev couple of Dmitry Mityaev and Ekaterina Mityaeva, Sheila Aviles or, the winner of the Vertical Kilometer World Circuit, Dani Osanz, now confirms the presence in the Ultramarathon starting line of the recent signing of the Adidas TERREX team, Pablo Villa.
After a season full of success, with a victory in the mythical TDS and a third place in the Ultra Trail World Tour, achieved after second place in Transgrancanaria and his victory in Chamonix, the Leonese runner returns to La Palma after several editions of absence to measure himself with the best. His tour knows him, not in vain in Transvulcania 2014 already made a creditable 9th place in his first participation. Since it improved in the next edition to be 8th.
That was the last time that the Leonese runner got in the starting line of the Transvulcania Ultramarathon. Now, as much more experience and with a new team, with which he seeks to achieve his maximum potential, he returns to the Isla Bonita with the aim of climbing to the top in the Transvulcania Ultramarathon.
Villa, who already knows what it is to be also a Spanish Trail Champion and to lead the Spanish Trail National Team in several World Championships, joins runners such as Dakota Jones and Tim Freriks, who already know what it is beat Transvulcania so they won’t make it easy for him. Without a doubt this Transvulcania is getting together a team of runners difficult to overcome.
Villa says excitedly that “returning to Transvulcania is something very special. It is a career that brings me very good memories. In my first participation, in 2014, I remember being on one of the starting lines with the highest level in which I have been with Luis Alberto, Kilian, Tofol, Sage Canaday, Timothy Olson … It was a great experience to be close to these great runners. In addition, La Palma is an island that has always attracted my attention, the landscape is very wild and changing ”.
Regarding his new team and his debut in Tranvulcania, he comments that “I am very motivated with adidas TERREX and Transvulacania will be the first race I share with the team. It is one of the big goals for adidas TERREX this season, so I want to reach the starting line in the best possible conditions to try to fight for the best result possible although it will not be easy because surely there will be a great level with some of the best ultra distance runners in the world.”
