S/C de La Palma, 19 April, 2018.- Plátano de Canarias, one of the most emblematic products of the Canary Islands, is going to play again a very important role at the tenth edition of the Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2018, where it is going to be the official food and the sponsor of the Half Marathon Transvulcania Plátano de Canarias.
The sponsorship, made through the Asociación de Organizaciones de Productores de Plátano de Canarias (ASPROCAN), has been presented this morning in La Palma. The president of the Cabildo Insular of La Palma, Anselmo Pestana, the sports counsellor of La Palma, Ascensión Rodríguez, and the president of ASPROCAN, Domingo Martín Ortega, were present at the act.
This event, which takes place in La Palma for ten years, is one of the most difficult and highlighted races in the Skyrunning World Circuit. This edition will count with 3.600 runners from more than 60 different countries, and thanks to the agreement with Plátano de Canarias, all of them will have the chance to eat as many Plátanos de Canarias as they want at the feeding and drinking stations, in order to regain their strength.
“The agreement with Plátano de Canarias means continuing with one of our main actions: promoting healthy habits, healthy eating and the practice of sports. This kind of actions are part of the commitment of the producers of Plátano de Canarias with everyone that trust us. That is why we have made other great agreements with events like the Barcelona Marathon or the Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon of Madrid”, explained Domingo Martín Ortega, president of ASPROCAN.
Anselmo Pestana, president of the Cabildo Insular of La Palma, mentioned “the importance of one of the main products of La Palma and an economic engine for the island. Having the support of them is very important for our island and for the Transvulcania”.
The sports counsellor of La Palma, Ascensión Rodríguez, explained that “it is vital for us to have the support and collaboration of Plátano de Canarias through ASPROCAN. Their support helps us to make an event of the magnitude of the Transvulcania”.
