This is the supreme event of the Transvulcania. The route begins at the Fuencaliente Lighthouse, running completely along the GR 131 long distance path, popularly known as the Walking Stick Route, to the Port at Tazacorte. From that point, it joins the GR 130 coastal walking path, to the finish line located in the Plaza de España in Los Llanos de Aridane.
Without a doubt, Transvulcania is one of the toughest ultra trail tests in the world, with a length of 73.06 kilometers, a cumulative elevation gain of 4,259 meters, a cumulative elevation loss of 3,926 meters, and a total elevation change of 8,185 meters. The race always stats at sea-level, ascending to the Roque de Los Muchachos, the highest point of the island, at 2,426 meters, descends back to sea-level in Tazacorte, and finishes with the climb to Los Llanos de Aridane, and the finishing line with its cheering crowds.
The event demands an excellent physical condition. Therefore, you must:
- Be over 18
- Produce reliable evidence that you have completed at least one 20-kilometre mountain race after January 1, 2019. You must produce evidence at the time of registration, otherwise your place will not be confirmed.
