A 60% of the enrolled athletes are going to run the Ultramarathon distance
The Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2019 has a clear goal and is already in cruising speed in direction to the eleventh edition. The Canarian race is still one of the most attractive races in the world, and next year it is going to be the flagship of the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series, where the Transvulcania will be one of the Super Sky Race.
The new modality of the race has garnered interest and there are already more than 1.500 athletes who have completed their registrations with still seven months remaining until the Transvulcania 2019. 60% of these registrations are athletes running the Ultramarathon, while a 25% of the registrations belong to athletes running the Marathon. 12% of registrations are of the Half Marathon, and the remaining 3% belong to the Vertical Kilometre.
The new designation of the Transvulcania Naviera Armas as the first event of the Super Sky Race in history and also the first event of the calendar of the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series, will foster that the best runners and specialists in the world will participate at the Canarian Race. Furthermore, this year, the Transvulcania will quadruple its points, it will double the prizes and will give direct access to the Sky Master Race to the first seven runners at the Ultramarathon modality, at the women and men category.
The sports counsellor of La Palma, Ascensión Rodríguez, said that “on the one hand, it is a great satisfaction achieving such amount of registrations with still seven months remaining until the beginning of the event. This proves that Transvulcania is still a reference in the world of the Mountain Races. On the other hand, it is even more satisfactory being part of the Migu Run Skyrunners World Series, and organizing the first SuperSky Races of the year, as well as giving direct access to the last event of the year, the Sky Master, where the first seven runners, in both categories, women and men, will directly classified for this event”.
