The Transvulcania 2017 continues to beat registration records and is very close to becoming the first of nine races to achieve 100% occupancy. Three months after the start of registration for this event, the Organization has reported that there are less than 50 available spaces, between the 27 of the Half Marathon and 21 of the Vertical Kilometer.

The first competitions filled were the Ultramarathon and the Marathon, despite the fact that the Organization offered 200 more spots because of the high demand of requests that registered before the end of 2016. Both competitions also have waiting lists and have already performed the first period of registration.

The Minister of Sports of the Island Council of La Palma, Ascensión Rodríguez, said “the atmosphere that will be experienced on the island during the week of Transvulcania will be great, with the 3,600 runners who will be on the island, their families and the public who Accompany the athletes at different points of the route, people can enjoy everything that surrounds this competition “.

Rodríguez stressed the touristic impact that this event will have for La Palama, “Already, many hotels are currently full for those dates and the transport companies are reinforcing their service so that no one is left without some form of transportation.”

Those interested in participating in Transvulcania 2017, both in the Half Marathon and in the Vertical Kilometer, must access the web-enabled portal ( and formalize their registration.
