The date for the next Transvulcania is already set. It will be celebrated on the 13th of May 2017 and its registrations will open tomorrow at 10.00 AM (GMT / official time of the Canary Islands), exactly a year before the big day. The Transvulcania Vertical Kilometer, on the other hand, will be run on the 11th of May and for the first time ever it will also accept entries from day one. Then entry requirements will remain unchanged but prices will be marginally reduced for the long distance races. The cost of registration will shrink when compared to 2015. The Ultramarathon will cost 95 euros, whereas the Marathon will be lowered to 75 euros and the Half Marathon to 65 euros. All of them will have a discount of 20 euros for La Palma residents.
On the other hand the Vertical Kilometer will also open for entries tomorrow with a flat rate of 50 euros. However, participants with a confirmed bib in any of the other categories will enjoy a 50% discount. Finally, the number of race numbers stays the same: 1,800 for the Ultramarathon, 600 for the Marathon and Half Marathon and 200 for the Vertical Kilometer.
Entry requirements will also be kept untouched. For the Ultramarathon (74 km) prospective entrants must have finished a trail running race of at least 40 km in the 18 months prior to race day.For the Marathon (45 km) prospective entrants must have finished a trail running race of at least 20 km in the 18 months prior to race day. For the rest of the categories (24 Km Half Marathon and Vertical Kilometer, as well as for the Hikers’ Meeting and the Transvulcania Kids Junior) these requisites will not be mandatory, although it is strongly recommended to have finished an equivalent race before entering.
