Transvulcania Naviera Armas will aim to increase the sustainable use of roads and vehicles in 2019, turning buses into the favored method of transportation. The new policies will bring, among other changes, the closure of the access to the start line in Faro de Fuencaliente where public can only access by the free bus.a) Access to the start line (Faro de Fuencaliente):
The access will be closed for vehicles via Las Caletas and Las Indias and public and press can only access by bus, using the free Bus Shuttle from Volcan de San Antonio Visitors Centre (or Los Canarios in Las Caletas junction).
Remember even the vehicles with PRESS credential can not access, so we recommend you to use the Free Bus Shuttle from Volcan de San Antonio Visitors Centre (with free parking) or to take the Press Bus from Los Cancajos.
b) Access to Los Canarios(Fuencaliente):
On-off barriers will facilitate the crossing of runners from 06.30 AM to 09.30 AM. Two locations will be affected. The first one is the entrance to the Volcanes de Fuencaliente Visitor Centre (in the vicinity of Bodegas Carballo). These cond will be the crossing of the LP-2 road (in the vicinity of Bar Parada).
c ) Access to Refugio del Pilar:
The western side of the LP-301 road (from El Paso towards Refugio del Pilar) will remain closed from 06.00 AM to midday. To access Refugio del Pilar from the West it will mandatory to use the free transfer buses departing La Caldera National Park Visitors’ Centre.
The eastern section(from San Isidro) will remain openand a temporary parking lot will be established at Hoya del Rehielo. However, all vehicles wishing to use this road will have to return via the same way, since no East-West crossings will be allowed until the restrictions are lifted.
d) Access to Roque de los Muchachos:
A blockade will be established at the entrance of GTC (Gran Telescopio Canarias),approximately one kilometre away from the aid station.No cars will be allowed beyond this point.
e) Circulation in Los Llanos de Aridane:
Due to the expected attendance, the following streets will remain closed: Avenida Doctor Fleming, Calle Ángel, Calle Fernández Taño and Avenida Enrique Mederos (from the local market to Avenida Doctor Fleming).
