The Russian marriage, who already competed in last year’s event, want to make a double in the Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2019

The Russian runners will come back to this year’s Transvulcania Naviera Armas. Dmitry Mityaev and Ekaterina Mytiaeva will return to La Palma in order to try to win the Transvulcania, after accumulating experience due to their participation in last year’s event, where both of them made a great race but did not achieve the victory.

Dmitry almost achieved the first position in the Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2018, after an immense battle against Pere Aurell. Finally, the Spanish runner won the race, after entering the finish line in Los Llanos de Aridane in first place, but Mytiaev left a great feeling among the fans in La Palma, who gave him a standing ovation in the final stretch of the race. Other great results of Dmitry are the second place in the Tromso Skyrace or the third position in the Pirin Ultra. He also finished in the third place in the TDS of the Ultra Trail Du Mont Blanc.

The situation of Ekaterina is very similar to the one of her husband. She started to run mountain races in 2013, and since then, she has experienced an incredible development which came to its peak in 2018, where she ended up third in the Transgrancanaria and fifth in the Transvulcania, improving the seventh position she achieved in the Transvulcania 2017. Ekaterina also finished the Madeira Ultra Sky Marathon in the fifth position, the High Trail Vanoise in the third position, and ended up among the ten best runners in one of the most legendary races in the world, the Kima Trophy. The Russian runner finished in the fourth place in the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series ranking.

“Both of them know the difficulty of the Transvulcania. Despite that, both runners managed to adapt to the route of the race in their last participations, where both of them nearly won their categories”, said the sports counsellor of La Palma, Ascensión Rodríguez. She added that “the experience they earned in other editions of the race will make both of them be one of the candidates to win this year’s Transvulcania Naviera Armas”.
