Debats, two times World Champion, and Aurell, reigning winner of the Transvulcania and the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series
The Mityaev have new rivals. The Russian marriage will not be the only one to compete at the Ultramarathon of the Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2019 with real options of winning the race. The Dutch runner Ragna Debats and the Catalan Pere Aurell will also participate in the next edition of the Transvulcania, becoming both of them real candidates for the win.
Debats, two times World Champion, has an amazing curriculum, which makes her one of the favourites in the women’s category. Some of her results are being the Skyrunning World Champion, as well as being the Skyrunning World Champion in the modality of SkyExtra. The Dutch runner, who lives in Spain, has dominate with authority the last season, finishing her best sporting year ever.
On the other hand, Pere Aurell, the Spanish athlete, already knows what a winner of the Transvulcania feels, as he won last year’s edition, where he fought until the end with Dmitry Mityaev. The “bajada del Time” was the decisive point where Aurell broke away from his rival to win the race. Aurell completed a magnificent year, after winning the Pirin Ultra, finishing in the second place in the Tromso Skyrace, and ending up third in the Trofeo Kima. Consequently, Aurell finished the season in the first position of the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series, beating his rival of the Transvulcania, Dmitry Mityaev, who finished second in the rankings.
“We are very proud to announce the participation in the Transvulcania Naviera Armas 2019 of Debats and Aurell, as both of them had incredible results last season in a very hard discipline like the mountain races”, said the sports counsellor of La Palma, Ascensión Rodríguez. “It is very pleasant to count with Aurell, who will ensure his desire and passion to win as we saw in last year’s edition, and with Debats, who is a double World Champion and is one of the references in this sport”.
